Research supporting BLC applications.

Selected international studies and reference guides inform design questions while keeping general research distinct from BLC results.

Three levels of evidence

BLC tests document the material tested, its date and measurement conditions. Scientific studies help identify questions and methods. Project validation concerns its assembly, exposure and requirements.

Results obtained on other materials are not attributed to BLC. A predictive model does not replace tests of the proposed material, and thermal properties alone do not qualify a system for fire, acoustics or loading.

Use databases within their scope

Bibliographic records and DOIs help locate publications and verify metadata. They are not product certification. Environmental comparisons also require checking the functional unit, assessment period, system boundary and end-of-life scenarios.

This selection, checked on 24 October 2026, includes studies from 2025 and 2026 alongside older foundational guides. It is not an exhaustive review. These references do not establish a BLC-specific environmental product declaration.

Put the evidence to work

For roofs, assess moisture and the complete assembly. For channels, qualify the component and handling conditions. At bridge approaches, coordinate ground conditions, drainage and transitions. Documented methods guide the checks; published BLC performance remains tied to its source reports.
